Robots and Humans: The Beginning of New Relationships

Humans have always tried to be in constant technological advancement to make people’s life easier. This brings us to an early time where the development of robots is going to bring a lot of benefits to humans’ life, giving, as a result, a close relationship between robots and humans that nowadays is a reality. Although some people believe that relationships between humans and robots are a risk to humanity, there is some evidence that demonstrates how this kind of relationship is getting closer because of the benefits that people can get from it.

Robots Nannies Vs Daycares

One of the facts that demonstrate the economic and social advantages of a close relationship between humans and robots is that getting a robot nanny is cheaper than hiring regular services of daycares. Alice LaPlante, a writer for Forbes Magazine, supports this statement: “in California, the annual daycare cost for one child is $22.240, while the purchase of robot nanny would be close to $2.000”.

Also, thanks to robot nannies and their features such as cameras in their eyes, parents can be more peaceful about their kids and make sure about their safety. For example, Amanda Sharkey, economic sociologist, explains that: “cameras in robot’s eyes can transmit images of the child to a window on the parent-care giver’s computer or to their mobile phone”. Taking into account this, it is evident that robot nannies are better than daycares, where we can find human nannies, because thanks to the technology and robot nannies’ features, parents are aware of their children by paying an affordable and safer service.

In Love with a Robot

Another fact that supports the advantages of having a close relationship between humans and robots is the possibility of robot-human love and sex, which recently is becoming a trend. For example, in China: “a Chinese artificial intelligence engineer has given up on the research for love and married a robot he built possible himself”. This is achievable because, nowadays, the development of technology is on the level that makes able the marriage between humans and robots, which triggers a new way of relationship for humans.

At the same time, sex between robots and humans is happening as a new way to meet men’s sexual needs and to expand a new market such it happened with Blonde Kristal, who “is one of many carefully crafted dolls to hit the market in recent years and Nick, a truck driver from Ontario, Canada, is among a growing number of men ready to splash the cash on a plastic partner”.

Enjoy the advances

Even though some people believe that robots are a risk for humanity, it is evident that relationships between humans and robots are getting closer because of the benefits that people can get from them in fields such as the economy and social interactions. Therefore, the possibility of having a robot as a nanny or partner is making stronger the bonds with this kind of technology. Hence, if some people worry a lot about every new invention or technological development such as robots or even cellphones, they will not be able to enjoy the benefits of technological advances, which might make their life easier.
